3. GED Test Texas Requirements

 

– Test takers have not obtained a high school or equivalent diploma.

– Test takers do not enroll in another educational program. 

– The minimum age to take the GED test in Texas is 16. Nevertheless, candidates who are 16 or 17 years old need to meet additional requirements such as getting permission from their school districts and gaining consent from their parents. 

– 16-year-old test takers may be eligible to take the Texas GED test if they submit a court order indicating GED testing is required or allowed.

– Attending a prep course or obtaining passing scores on the GED Ready test is not required in Texas.

– To qualify to sit for the GED Texas, you must be a state resident. 

 

4. Texas GED price

 

In Texas, you need to pay $36.25 for each individual subject test when taking it at a test center. When taking the test online, the price is $42.25 for each subtest. Therefore, the total cost will be either $145 or $169. Please remember that candidates taking the test online should also count $28 of four GED Ready practice tests! You can take the GED subject tests one or more at a time. You don’t need to take it all in one session.

5. How To Register For The GED Test in Texas?

 

Only Texas inhabitants can take the Texas GED test. Test takers can register and pay for each of the four GED subject tests individually. 

 

To take the GED test in Texas, you need to create an account on the official GED website GED.com. In the portal MyGED, you can enroll, schedule as well as pay for your test appointments.

6.1. Do I have to be a Texas resident to take the Texas GED test?

 

Yes. You must be a Texas resident to be eligible to take the GED test in Texas. 

 

 

6.2. Can I take the Texas GED test online?

 

You can take the GED Texas test online or at an official testing location in Texas. Find the closest site to you on our list of testing sites in Texas above. 

 

Starting September 1st, 2021, there was an online Proctored (OP) GED test choice. This means that you are allowed to take the Texas GED test online. 

 

6.3. Can I retake a subject on the test if I don’t pass?

 

Students are permitted to retake each subtest up to 3 times without having to wait. If you want to retake the test the fourth time, you must wait 60 days to do that. You will get a discounted price for your first two retakes. Specifically, you only need to pay $12 per retake instead of $32. To be given additional discounted retakes, you must wait 60 days, pay the full price of $32, and then you will receive the benefits. Texas requires all retakes take place within 12 months of the first try.  

 

6.4. How many questions are there on the GED Texas test?

 

There are 46, 35, 34 and 46 questions in Math, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts respectively. 

 

6.5. How much time am I given to complete each GED subtest in Texas?

 

On the GED test in Texas, students are given a total of 7 hours and 41 minutes to complete all four GED subtests with 115 minutes for Math, 90 minutes for Social Studies, 90 minutes for Science and 150 minutes for Language Arts.
