1.1. Maryland In-Person GED® Test 

 

You must meet the following requirements to take the GED® test at any authorized GED® center in Maryland. Let’s check it out!

 

 

 

  • You must be a Maryland’s resident. 
  • You must be at least 18 years of age. Individuals who are under 19 years old must possess an officially withdrawn from a high school program. Moreover, they must submit the GED® Official School Withdrawal/ Exception Form to the Maryland GED® Office for the reviewing process. Their date of birth will be verified at the testing center. If their forms are completed properly, they will be bestowed an approval. Don’t forget to check your GED account for approval status. Now, let’s print and fill out the GED® Official School Withdrawal/Exception Form.
  • Individuals who are 16 years old might take the GED® if they qualify for an exception under the Compulsory Attendance Education Law. Furthermore, they must submit the GED® Official School Withdrawal/Exception Form completed by the last school attended. Besides, 16-year-old candidates who have enrolled in a home instruction program and submitted the GED® Office Home Instruction Verification Form completed by the jurisdictional home school office also take the GED®.
  • All GED® Test Takers must bring official and current identification to the Testing Center including: 
  • A valid Maryland driver’s license or Maryland learner’s permit which is issued by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA); or
  • A current official Maryland identification card which is issued by the Maryland MVA; or
  • A current official active duty military dependent’s ID card; or 
  • A valid passport and a second document, such as a cable bill, recent utility bill, phone bill, bank statement, or lease agreement.

Take note: Any out of state licenses or expired documents will hinder your GED® taking. Furthermore, there are no ID waivers.

 

1.2. Maryland GED® Test Online

 

In Maryland, you are allowed to take the Online GED Test remotely at home or in another location while monitored seriously by a trained online proctor. In order to be qualified for taking the GED® test remotely, you must fit the following requirements 

 

  • You must be a resident of Maryland.
  • You must be at least 18 years old. If you are under 19 years old, you must possess an officially withdrawn from a high school program. Moreover, you must submit the GED® Official School Withdrawal/ Exception Form to the Maryland GED® Office for the reviewing process. Your date of birth will be verified at the testing center.   • You must have acceptable identification to present electronically

2. Maryland GED Registration and Scheduling

 

To register for your Maryland GED® test, create an account at GED.com and click on Register Today afterwards. 

Another way to register for your GED® test is that you call the Pearson VUE center at 1-877-EXAM-GED (392-6433). 

Take note: Don’t create duplicate accounts. Furthermore, it is advisable that you shouldn’t schedule more than two test modules per day.

 

3. Maryland GED® Testing Fee

 

3.1. GED® test centers

 

Maryland only subsidizes the initial test per module. Maryland does not subsidize any retesting. If you take your GED® at any authorized GED® test centers at Maryland, you might be charged the following fees: 

  • Each GED® subtest costs $11.25 for the first try. The entire test consisting of 4 modules costs $45. The second and third attempt typically cost $10 per module. If you order additional retests, you must pay $30, $10, $10, $30 for the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh try per each subject respectively. 3.2. Online Proctored GED® Test

 

The Online Proctored testing fee has been $36 per module since September 1,2021. However, thanks to subsidization of Maryland, you only need to pay $17.25 per module for the first attempt.  If you aspire to get the discount, apply the Maryland Subsidy Discount Code: MDGED1875.

There is no discount for retesting in OP testing.

 

4. GED® Retest Policies in Maryland 

 

Candidates might retake your GED® exam to achieve their expected passing scores. However, you are permitted to take three GED tests per module per calendar year. It means that your fourth attempt will be scheduled on January 1 of the following year. Therefore, let’s obtain instructional assistance before any retesting to achieve a passing score within the first three attempts

 

5. GED® Testing in Spanish

 

 

 

The current GED® test is available in English or Spanish in Maryland. During the scheduling procedure, order the language format you prefer. The Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA) module must be studied in English; the other three modules can be done in Spanish.

 

6. GED® Test Scores/Diploma Information

 

The Maryland State Board of Education and the Maryland Department of Labor jointly give a Maryland High School Diploma to test takers who pass all four GED® test modules.

Testers who successfully complete the final module will be given instructions on how to secure an electronic PDF document that includes their Smart Transcript and Maryland High School Diploma and is sent to them via email. 

Keep a copy of each document on your computer in case you need it in the future. Please keep these in your files. There is a free professional printing option for the Maryland High School Diploma on the electronic versions of the diploma.
