2. What is the GED cost in South Carolina?

The GED exam in South Carolina costs $150 for the full battery or $37.50 for each individual subtest when taken in person at a testing location. However, taking the test online costs $43.50 each topic, or $174 total. In addition, you’ll need to pay an additional $28 for four GED Ready practice exams. 

Test takers for the GED may choose to pay for and take one or more of the four exams at once. Applicants must register online at GED.com in order to schedule the tests and take the exam.

3. South Carolina GED testing requirements

Resident: You must be a resident of South Carolina.

Age: You must be at least 19 years old, but if you meet certain prerequisites, you may take the test although you’re between the ages of 16 and 18.

Enrolled: You cannot be enrolled in an accredited high school or be a high school graduate.

Score: 145 (minimum) in each subject

Accommodations: You must apply for disability accommodations through the GED® Testing Service page.

Diploma: The state of South Carolina will issue you a GED certificate upon passing the exam, proving that you have attained the same level of knowledge as a high school graduate.

4. Online GED Test in South Carolina

It used to be that to take the GED exam, test-takers had to come to an official GED testing site. However, in most states, the GED exam can now be taken in an online format as well by eligible students.
